Definitely open yesterday. It was the only one of the backside lifts without a ginormous line. Fun laps; my wife and I called it the ‘nostalgia lift’ because of how much it reminded us of learning to ski in the Northwest.
In pictures 3, 4, and 14. It appears to have some form of spring forcing the depression sheaves onto the rope. CTEC/Garaventa CTEC/Doppelmayr CTEC and Doppelmayr proper made compression assemblies that worked that way.
Took me a hot minute, but I see what you’re referring to. No, there is no spring involved in any Riblet combo assembly. Opposing sheaves are added to assemblies ‘as needed’ and on all full depress assemblies; line towers/assemblies had the opposing sheaves on anything that was essentially neutral. Much like any more modern sheave assembly. The opposing sheaves were bolted to the pair bars and had several shim options available as needed to ensure said sheave wasn’t inducing undue deflection in the rope.
So, what then would the coil spring and rocker appearing setup be that looks somewhat less-than-Riblety but still colour-matched on tower 32? (It’s fairly visible on the back of the heavy-side sheave assembly in pic 4.) Kinda looks a bit like they swapped the one sheave of the standard one-opposite-two rocker setup with the current assembly. Might even be a Purg fab. You know everybody in CO. Find out. Stat. I’m waiting. I got nutn else interesting to do until my stupid patellar tendinopathy heals. For the sixth time.
For the 2023-2024 season, Purgatory had Lift 5 running 7 days per week for most of the season. Not sure why their change in that, but a positive development.
BTW, This lift is open Friday through Sunday 9AM – 3:30.

How many other Riblet lifts have that style of compression sheave assembly?

What one? the bottom or the top combo, both are pretty popular.
