I believe that they remain on the rope like all the other plants.

I think they only come off the line during severe inclement weather.

No ~ they come off the line, usually in the winter.

Harmony is a bit different to other lifts. It was installed reusing the Poma towers from the detachable quad that was there. Obviously these towers are designed for lower weight. If the carriers were left on in the winter, and they were all to get filled with snow, the factors of safety would be violated (even though the towers can support the weight) For that reason they are removed from the line every night. In the summer they are also usually off, except if we are doing maintenance and need them on.

Yup – and I love the “branched” parking system (can’t remember the exact name) Harmony has, kinda like peak chair.

thanks for the more in-depth explanation though.

    Small parenthesis:
From me in Europe we put the chairs in stock every night.

Why does this lift have a parking barn, but Symphony doesn’t , especially when symphony is the one mostly in the windy area and above tree line

Probably because the base of Symphony is more sheltered than this one so they can pull the chairs that would be above treeline and put them at the base of Symphony outside without issues. Harmony is also a lot newer and has (more expensive) 6 person chairs, both of which might be a factor.

Also harmony is usually windy so it’s shut down on a windy day so they need to put the chairs somewhere instead of have them sway on the line.

Why replace a bottom drive detachable quad with a top drive detachable 6 pack?

Top drives are more efficient at moving the load and 6 person chairs move more people and do better in high winds from their added weight, 2 big advantages for this busy and wind exposed lift

        They also require less tension

The original lift was bottom drive because there was no power at the top and it was too expensive to get it there. Subsequently, power was brought to the peak and the new lift became a top drive, which is a better engineering solution. Peak chair is bottom drive for the same reason.

I don’t think red detailing represents “Harmony” that well.

What does that mean? Looks pretty harmonious to me.

Well, when I think of the color red, harmony isn’t the first thing that comes to my mind.
