Hellroaring #8 – Whitefish, MT

This lift was entirely relocated from one part of Hellroaring Basin to another in 2021.

    I wonder what is up with the need for a slight descent into the upper terminal. I think it’s got to do with that last tower being integrated into the drive. Incidentally, it was a regular support tower in the old alignment:

        Agreed. Definitely nothing to do with whether or not the sheave assembly is part of the terminal- one can engineer whatever configuration one needs in this case.

    Does anyone know why this lift was relocated? It seem like that was a bad idea considering it made previous runs out of bounds.

      It’s much easier to access the terrain you actually want to ski. The terrain that is now out of bounds is protected grizzly habitat, and was required to close on April 1st every year. If Big Mountain wants to, they can run this later in the spring season now.

      Absolutely a wise decision to relocate.
