Peter, can you please note that on the main page for Big Sky?

It was built in 1955 at Brighton so technically this lift is one of the oldest in the US.

I’m just kind of curious why people think that this was majestic from Brighton the terminals and towers aren’t the same. There were 4 towers that were similar to these the bottom terminal was only drive meanwhile the top was only counterweight now granted these things can change but still I feel like this was not from Brighton but if you can prove me wrong go for it I’m kind of interested to see if people have evidence that this was the true majestic that was at Brighton
Some links to see the lift in its former spot at Brighton

I would guess that some of the other towers on this lift came from Evergreen at Brighton. The drive terminal looks to be only modified to a combined drive/tension on the original motor room.

Evergreen was removed in 2007 though

You’re right, my mistake. I would guess that Big Sky recycled some towers from Challenger when it was rebuilt by Superior Tramway.

After doing more research, I wonder if this lift came from the former Cottage Springs ski area in California. The area had a short 1981 Riblet and closed in 2006, which would make sense with this lift being installed the same year. Considering that White Otter came from Conquistador, it would make sense that Big Sky would acquire a relatively newer Riblet rather than to reuse parts dating back from 1955.

so much of this lift seems fabricated in house. The entire tension system is nothing like what majestic had but you can tell the motor room is the same. It seems like they may have just taken the motor room, chairs and return bullwheel. The tension carriage motor room was not the same setup as it was at brighton for sure.

At the top station? Most Riblets have one of those for lead in sheaves to keep it from de-railing upwards on the bullwheels

Considering the age of this lift, would Big Sky consider replacing it with an Alpen Star even though it is just a real estate lift and not critical to their operations.
