Nearly useless lift that goes almost nowhere, has an unskiable lift line, and is Southern-Ontario-short in terms of vertical. But you have to remember that Smugglers is not so much a day skier destination as it is a learn-to-ski family resort on extended stays (at least in terms of the traffic on this mountain). Highlands is really a Ski School trail pod served by its own base lodge that is 90% ski school groups having lunch. This lift gives them their own spot to learn with almost zero interference from regular ski traffic. If the insane lines at Smuggs other doubles are driving you mad, you can always hang out at deserted Highlands to do some quick burners and wait out the peak crowds.
It serviced the Kancamagus trail pod. Replaced by the express quad in 1995, and now the Kanc 8 which opened in 2021/2022. Not sure where the current towers at Sumggs came from.
Loon’s old “Kangamangus Doubles” had one end where Lower Northstar started while one went to the top terminal location of the quad/8-pack. My guess is the towers came from the top segment of the double that went to the top terminal location of the quad/8-pack.

Where did the towers come from? The lifts at Loon that this was built from shared towers.
