      First portal tower is Mueller, half-tower 18 is Riblet.

      No, all the drive machinery is in the enclosure under the bullwheel.

      Same concept. Hall built the most of this style of drive terminal, but they were by no means the only ones. Mueller built quite a few, and Heron did as well.

    I would say that that is most likely not a diesel engine for backup, unless its an old 6.2 detroit or the notorious olds diesel. To me it looks more like

    Could this be the original Summit Double from Gunstock, NH? It was installed in 1962 and had a similar-looking return terminal as per pictures on newenglandskihistory.com. In addition, the counterweight setup looks like those found on lifts like the Summit Double that started in buildings. In any case, this is definitely a cool early-model Mueller lift.
