This lift was built using components from the Valley Double, lift 1A. The drive, chair seats, and line gear were all used parts. The non-tandem towers were also reused from the lower section of the Little Whiteface lift, but with CTEC crossarms. The return bullwheel is Hall, but mounted on a CTEC structure. I’m addition to the towers, they added new chair frames and hydraulic tensioning.

With the installation of the gondola and removal of the Mid Station Shuttle Lift (1B), this lift rarely runs. It only ran 10 days at most last season and often not for the entire day. It made sense to install it pre-gondola because the Little Whiteface lift has very little capacity and it allowed the traffic going to mid and the top to be split.

This lift ran today and so did Little Whiteface. Normally it’s one or the other. That means it’s usually bad news if this lift is running because Little Whiteface is down and the gondola line is going to be nuts. It was so cool getting to see both lifts in action, just like the pre-gondola days (which I wasn’t alive for).

I took a video of this rare occasion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQzWyBt1Rb4

And wasn’t this the last mountain run double ever ran before the replacement of both lifts this summer

“Whiteface…the lift on the left has not run in years.

The lift on the right got some new poles in the upper half and some new gears around 5 years ago.

Are there any plans to replace this clunker setup to the top of Little Whiteface? It is nostalgic, but it is embarrassing” Quote from a facebook post from ski the northeast

Will Whiteface be replacing this lift with another one, or will the new Little Whiteface service the terrain off this?

Mountain Run will not be getting replaced. The new Little Whiteface Double will keep the mid-station, so you could get off there, and you can access all of the terrain previously served by Mountain Run from Approach anyways.
