Because of its wide chair spacing, this lift runs much faster than a lot of express lifts.

It is over 4,000 feet long, but only has around 60 chairs

Spacing has no impact on speed. It has a design speed of 1000 feet per minute like most detachables. It could be that they are running it at full speed when many other resorts are running their lifts at 800-900 fpm. It’s easier to run a lift with bigger spacing at full speed because there are fewer misloads with the longer interval, but it does not mean the lift is any more or less capable.

honestly, the chair spacing seems closer now, I went there today and the chairs seem much closer together

When I visited Homewood in January 2020 it was running at 1000fpm with a chair interval just under 10 seconds. That puts the chair spacing at around 165 feet and the capacity at around 1,450 pph. I honestly don’t think there is a need to increase capacity because even on the busiest days of the season you would rarely wait more than 3 minutes in the lift line. Was Old Homewood still running at 1000fpm with the closer chair spacing?

Last time I checked this isn’t the Quail Chair… Yet another mistake in a Doppelmayr Worldbook entry.
