Is there any reasons why it’s the European towers?

Doppelmayr stopped making the Uni-G terminal in North America in 2003 when the Uni-GS went into production. This lift was built in 2008 and was custom ordered by the resort with Uni-G terminals. At the time Uni-Gs and therefore the whole lift had to be imported from Europe. That’s why the lifting frames are the European ones.

But why did they want the uni-g?

I cant think of a single UNI-GS that Vail installed. At Beaver Creek they always opted for the UNI-G as well.

The UNI-G terminal skin has always been imported from Europe. The rest of the lift can be manufactured wherever Doppelmayr decides it’s going to be. Beaver Creek always had the regular crossarms on the chairs and euro crossarms on the gondolas.

It’s really a shame they didn’t run this chair a little higher up on the mountain – to approximately where East Peak chair used to unload. As things are now, the upper third of Bonanza is inaccessible without hiking, and Pondorosa, while still a marked trail has been allowed to overgrow to the point that it’s now useless as an on-piste trail. Which is ridiculous, because the East Peak pod needs more runs, and more grooming, as it is heavily utilized by folks accessing from the Village, and are more often than not occasional, even rookie, skiers and riders.
