This is one of two Omega’s built in 2011 after the LPA entered production. The other is Super Glide at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. It made sense for Marmot Basin to get the Omega for this lift to have parts commonality with the Canadian Rockies Express.
It’s clearly in that state like what Winter Park left Outrigger in for three years before they turned it into Eagle Wind. I’d guess a triple chairlift would probably be useful in the Caribou lift line, since Paradise doesn’t completely replace it.
The run out is somewhat flat and they may have been trying to avoid unnecessary congestion. But both Paradise Express and the Knob chair start in funky spots where you have to be careful not to ski too low.

Yes. https://liftblog.com/caribou-marmot-basin-ab/
Strange it is still on the trail map when it will obviously never run again.

Does anyone know why this lift was built with the base where it is and not further down at the bottom of Caribou?

Yeah, starting the lift down where Caribou started would make more sense since some trails in that area can’t exactly cut back to Paradise.

I think they mitigated that a little bit with Knob this year with the new quad, as the quad starts slightly downhill from where the double started.
