This lift was rebuilt from a 1980s Doppelmayr high speed quad with CLD-260 terminals, and reuses the old towers.

I wouldn’t call this new lift, this is just the old lift with some upgrades in 2006. The chairs and towers are original, only the terminals look new.

And the grips, the previous lift has DS-104 grips.

Most new installs will reuse as much equipment as possible to save costs. For instance, when the Palmer Express at Timberline Express was built, it reused the former towers of the original Riblet double. I would consider the new Pine Marten Express to be more than 50% new in my book.

Towers and chairs tend to be overlooked when it comes to a chairlift’s age, because they are re-used very frequently, and tend to not be very relevant. Tower age and chairs themselves won’t affect reliability at all, and 95% of guests can’t tell the difference between a brand new tower and one that’s 50 years old.

The CLD terminals were pretty much identical in design to Outback’s:

I’m guessing the lift probably lost about ten or twelve chairs when the terminals were replaced.

I just wanted to know what the view was like from the top. But after visiting this form maybe I’ll just make my own chairlift.
