Any idea why direct drive was not used?

Like with Keetley, I imagine it was a cost-saving decision. Plus, with such a short length, I don’t think that’s enough to warrant a direct drive.

Being able to park chairs in terminals is a really cool feature, not sure why thats a newer thing that was never tried earlier. At least as far as I am aware, the only lifts I know of that have this capability are other newer D line lifts. Because of it, lifts on windy alignments like this one can go from having huge parking facilities like Harmony and Peak expresses at whistler, to just having a small chair maintenance shed like this one.

I know some Bartholet lifts in Europe have this feature, but unsure of others.

It’s been a thing for a while, just not here. Leitner has offered a terminal parking feature that Poma picked up as a result of the partnership, and Doppelmayr has done that as well.

I’m not sure if the features just weren’t offered here, or if mountains were reluctant to pay for it.

Didn’t even some old Poma lifts and Garaventa lifts from the 80s 90s also have this feature?

Definitely seems better than having to make a big chair parking garage

Pinyon has been down for a couple of days, from at least Saturday. “Waiting on a part” was the explanation. Chairs were parked in the terminals.
