Poma – Coppervale, CA

This Poma platter has operated at Coppervale since 1977, when it replaced a rope tow.
The towers look different from typical Poma ones and may have been fabricated locally.
The top bullwheel is a floating style with a counterweight behind.
Unloading at tower 10.
Side view of the return bullwheel.
Lift line overview.
The first of many half towers on this lift.
View up the line from the base area.
Drive unit.
The bottom terminal and loading area.

I belive this is a yan platter. Look at the bottom station, and towers. But some other parts look to be poma, like the floating bullwheel up top.

Would it be safe to climb a ladder on a floating bullwheel platter like that?

Yes. They don’t move that much anyway, and there’s enough tension that the average person isn’t going to push the carriage sideways out from behind the ladder.
