Leave it to Riblet to use 24 towers on a 2100 foot lift.

Everett Kircher was afraid of heights so he had a 15 foot off the ground rule for all his early lifts. Hence all the towers

Even once those height rules were relaxed, Riblet lifts still often had a lot of closely spaced towers. Lift A comes to mind:

I’ve heard that, but even if he hadn’t instituted that rule this lift would still have had 24 towers. Tower height, unless on extremely complicated profiles, does not affect the number of towers. Riblet didn’t offer 8-rocker assemblies until the 80s so they needed half again as many towers as other manufacturers would have installed. To add to that, the lift is a) a quad, and thus has more load overall, and b) is relatively flat, thus more load on individual towers.

Early heron quads from about this time also had many towers:

The Ramshead chairs are being replaced this year (Summer 2023) with the chairs from the now-removed Superbowl quad chair. They are subsequently then going to sell-off the old Ramshead chairs.

Are the Superbowl chairs newer or something? I thought they were the exact same so I don’t get why they’d need to swap them

Superbowl is only 2 years younger than Ramshead.

Super bowl doesn’t run at night or early/late season so the chairs are probably in much better shape

Didn’t the Superbowl lift come from Thunder Mt?

are your referring to the defunct Michigan resort or the thunder mountain (now known as Berkshire east) in Massachusetts?

The only thing I can think of would be if that they are in better condition from a more recent repaint/refurb, or NDT cycle.
