      old quads and triples are somewhat notorious for being narrow and/or underpowered for a ….wider and heavier average skier. Many mountains have reduced their load limit to 1 less than the original design. this seems especially true with Hall triples and Riblet quads. I know when I lived in Bellingham, Mt.Baker had real loading issues with their Riblet quads. At one point they spent a few busy weekends running a quad as a triple cuz it meant the lift kept running and shrank the line faster than if they had 4 passengers.

        Most Hall Quads now run as triples, they are too narrow to comfortably fit 4 people.

        while that is true, the old lift was designed and installed as a triple and never one moved 4 people per chair.
