Since Boyne purchased the mountain they should just move the Jordan quad here to replace Summit Express and build a 6 pack at Barker instead of moving it there.

Shawnee/Pleasant doesn’t seem like a detachable type of place. It’s a low-key alternative to Maine’s Big Two and the Conway resorts that Vail is mismanaging and I think most of its patrons want to keep it that way. The Boyne purchase is a good sign, but it doesn’t need much more than good maintenance.

Two employees have confirmed to me, a detachable quad will replace the summit triple in two seasons. Word is, the triple will remain to mid-station. That will give two lifts access to Sunnyside.
I have no idea of ownership or permitting, but there is plenty of expansion potential south of Sunnyside.

Local rumor is that there’s still no set timeline to install the HSQ but that it’s still happening… plan is to run it between the current Summit triple and Pine quad, skier’s right of the Main Slope. I’ve also heard that the triple will remain but be truncated at its midstation. Should make loads of capacity out of the main base area.

This is long, but stick with me.

Per employees and other rumors/signs on the hill, a brand new HSQ is to be built in the summer of 2024 to serve the 24-25 season. After a couple years of misses and rumors without any official word or payoff, I know it might sound like just another rumor, but it’s a refreshed and more realistic plan.

Firstly, the new lift would be an HSQ – possibly doppelmayr considering Boyne works almost exclusively with them on new New England projects.

The plan as I’ve heard is to tear out the triple as it sits and sell the lift. I’ve heard potential buyers from PA. This would mean no midstation and no additional lift out of the base, just a replacement along a near identical alignment from base to summit. Riding the current triple, you can see flags and spray paint (below snow coverage) marking potential new towers.

I’ve heard reasoning for moving on completely is Pleasant is done with old lifts. The current triple is aging and on its 2nd owner potentially going on 3rd after this summer. After this year’s debacle with the Summit triple rendering the main area of the resort unskiable for weeks, it seems they want a brand new lift with a long lifespan.

A couple years back, the plan was to use the old Jordan lift (that currently sits in a field 2 mins west of the resort). Of course, this was the original plan until the lift went to be rebuilt and it just didn’t seem worth it. Also, I heard that the mountain was unable to get permission to cut all the way up a new alignment. Fun fact, you can actually see a small path cut from the top of the mountain all the way down that aligns with the trail “T-line”, where the new lift was originally going to sit.

Unfortunately or fortunately (depends on how you look at it), it looks like the summit triple is on its last year at the resort. I was really pulling for holding onto it as a Sunnyside replacement or a lift to use on a future expansion west but those projects are so many years down the pipeline.

Wouldn’t Sunnyside be a Garaventa CTEC rather than just a CTEC? It was built after the merger in 1992. Am I missing something?
