What caused the ski area to downsize so dramatically and leave a relatively modern chairlift abandoned? The comments don’t work on the B chairlift page, so I can’t post this there.
At first, The Picoq and the Faitière sides (mountains 2 and 3) were closed because it was an overkill for chantecler to operate them and they were not so popular. The Girouette and the Crête were still opened and accessible via the B chairlift. In the early 2000’s, the ski station and the hotel went into chicane and Chantecler closed the Girouette area, near of the hotel. The quad lift of the Girouette was sold but the B triple haven’t found anyone interested. Because of money issues, the chairlift wasn’t dismanstled and is still in place today.
This is a good question, it makes many years that I’m asking myself the same question. There’s a lot of chances that the quad went in a station in Quebec, or elsewhere in Canada. I’ll try to find more info when I’ll have time.
