Why do lifts at carnivals always seem so tall?

These lifts are scenic lifts, meant for viewing things off to the side. Compared to ski resort chairlifts, where moving people uphill is their main function and sightseeing is a byproduct.

Yeah, although the people who are riding them generally would be wary of the fact they’ve probably never been on a chairlift and they are very high up

Those restraint bars are unlike any I’ve ever seen on a CTEC lift before. That being said, I do remember seeing a picture of that style in a CTEC catalog once… The catalog indicated that they were specifically for amusement park/sightseeing lifts.

In one of the photos, the ferris wheel’s cabins looked like ski lift gondolas.

And I quote from the third picture abov…“This lift also travels to the San Diego County Fair each spring.”

They move this entire lift back and forth between County Fairs each year? Meaning, take it down, load it on trucks, and rebuild it again, TWICE each year!?

Will there be a page for the other skyride here in the future?
