Steamboat’s master plan has a high speed quad proposed for this lift line, probably for when Sunshine II is built. The main purpose of South Peak is for getting to Rendezvous Saddle if you miss the Rendezvous Way cutoff.

I personally think this would be an unnecessary upgrade, I would much rather see Bar-ue or Morningside upgraded.

This has shiny new footrests now. Christie III still doesn’t have safety bars, more surprising for an out-of-base lift with lots of beginners around

Christie III is considered an auxiliary lift, which is probably the reason it hasn’t gotten bars yet.

It’s difficult to fit comfort bars on a carrier not designed for them. Lots of welding and modifying involved.

I assume this is partially why Four Points had to get all new chairs from Doppelmayr in 2012, because the old chairs weren’t designed to be retrofitted with safety bars. And also probably for uniformity as it now has parts commonality with South Peak and Christie III.

Partially, but those were the same carriers we replaced on R and S so they probably had the same idea as we did.
