    Update:

There was an effort by a local retail business to acquire the ski area. It failed due to lack of investment interest.

As for the lift, I was at Anthony Lakes and a guy who had just been touring at Spout the week before told me some unfortunate news. Appearently it is still wrecked and nothing has been done to it. Still deroped and everything.

The (appearently cantankerous) owner has gotten really tired of dealing with the USFS, so he basically tells anyone who offers to buy the place to “go talk to the forest service.”

    A disappointing situation all around.

You got some bad information. The damaged lift was repaired and has since been checked out by the regional USFS ropeway engineer.

    May 2020 Update:

I contacted John Murray, the owner of Spout Springs, in December 2019 with the following message:

    Hello,

Will Spout Springs Ski Area open for winter of 2019/2020? Also, what is the current asking price for the resort as a whole?

    Thanks, *********

Today he responded with the following message:

I have not checked this in a while, the ski area is still for sale.
It is listed in Loopnet for 1,200,000, it is under contract until the 31st but it does not look like that deal is going to come together, feel free to contact the broker in the listing.

    Thanks,

    John

Just thought I’d update the community.

Ok, so now I’m interested to hear some opinions on reopening this place.

Considering how far out and rural this place is, would it be more sensible to spend the money to get both lifts running for reopening, or only get the undamaged Echo lift running for reopening and hold off on the more extensive repairs for Happy until you have money coming in?

I heard awhile back the Happy lift was repaired. Have not seen it myself though.

I am happy to hear that the lift was repaired. I hope the infrastructure is holding up and not being damaged by vandals and trespassers.
