If they did I would imagine a mid station on the top with unloading in both directions. Half mid station at the other. Might have to do some ground work because detachable mid stations are HUGE.
A mid station at top with bi-directional unloading is doable, as the Riva Bahn Express demonstrates (loading at both ends, unloading in both directions at the midstation that services Golden Peak’s terrain park).
The best option here I think is to shorten the fixed-grip quad to the ‘down under’ portion, keeping the drive where it is, and either building a new tension return terminal, or relocating the bottom station to the top of Ray’s summit.
Then build the front mountain portion as a regular detachable lift, with a mid station similar to the orange bubble one.
Yeah, that makes the most sense to split the lift in half: use the existing FGQ to cover the section from tower 24 to tower 32, and a high speed quad on the front side portion.
Reminds me a bit of what Schweitzer did when they replaced Chair 1 in 2007. That was a Riblet double that had a mid-unload and mid-load, and the resort’s way of handling the issue was to split the lift in half when they upgraded it, with a high speed quad replacing the lower half and a triple chairlift replacing the upper half. And same with Schweitzer’s lift upgrades in the Outback Bowl and replacement of Snow Ghost this year (a high speed quad covering the intermediate terrain previously served by Snow Ghost’s midstation, but realigned to allow access from more trail; while constructing a triple chairlift to serve the expert terrain of the upper section).
Peter, Navajo was the SLI double and Mandan was the Hjorth Bros double.
Also, Arrowhead had 85 chairs. It’s still sitting in the same spot as when you were there. There’s rumors about re-installing it. Either to the right of Ray’s on the old Mandan line up to the summit that’s a little higher than Ray’s Summit to be used on days when Ray’s gets huge lines and as a backup after last season’s 6 days of downtime, or to open additional terrain. What other land they own or can use, I don’t know, maybe to the east of Bishop’s bowl on the other side of the far east ridge.
Did they sell Arrowhead?

Who would want it? It’s a Yan triple with aluminum sheaves, no bars, and a bunch of offset towers.

Do you think they will replace rays with a high speed quad any time soon?

Rays is getting replaced by a HSQ being at the true Mandan summit and there will be a second lift from the bottom of reds to the top of the new HSQ

You have Ray’s listed as removed, but it’s still operating. It will be decommissioned in October when the summer operation ends.
