This looks like a game-changer for Snow King! Nothing better than a pure-expansion lift into a sunny bowl with gorgeous views.

Exposure could be an issue here

Yes and no. In a good year, this face probably holds 50-70in of base through April. In a bad year… Yes none, but JH gets consistently cold in the winter. Enough to make snow at town level every night for about 3 months if you wanted to. It’s also higher elevation, so manmade snow + cold climate means it will stick around.

This will never be their late or early season lift, but it should reliably open for 2.5-3 months a year. Unlike if you plopped a similar aspect lift in lower and/or warmer elevations like NE, the Cascades, Tahoe etc.

& by good year, I mean once in 5 or so. An average year is probably more like 30-50″ by closing.

I’m curious on why they went for a triple instead of a quad

Quad fixed chairs are more work for the liftie to swing, and I’d think the ski area had a sense of what uphill capacity they needed (it’s actually much higher than the gondola capacity in skiers per hr!).

The Snow King web site lists the vertical of this lift at 580′ which is strange because looking at a topo map it looks like 710′. Definitely not 750′ though.
