Solitude is screwing up by replacing this lift they should replace Powderhorn instead. This lift means a lot to me and to see it go will be ashame. I am hoping to get some parts from the lift. I wonder if this lift will be scrapped or could be sold. This lift is still one hell of a machine. This one will most likely effect me in a bad way. This i feel like will be summit again knowing that lift was also one hell of a machine. Same with all those other lifts. I really care for this lift and I hope it gets another chance in life.
The idea is to decrease lines elsewhere by drawing skiers here. Maybe also competition with Brighton? Anyways, Alterra doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to replace this lift.
Sunrise used to be a lot more important as it served as the main lift to get to the original Summit double (unless you wanted to take double blacks off of Ajex or Powderhorn). When they upgraded Summit, they moved the bottom terminal downhill and added a direct run from Ajex too the base of Summit. I believe if they replace this lift it will be another fixed grip, unless they want to re-align it.
Yep, after Apex was installed, Sunrise lost a lot of ridership. Smart move of Solitude to move Summit further downhill when it was upgraded. However, I do think Apex should be modified or replaced with another HSQ where it would run to the top of Powderhorn II, but keep the existing termination as a midway station with a turn. Alterra could reuse this at one of its other resorts.

They should extend this lift with a midstation to provide as alternate access to the Brighton interconnect and/or evergreen peak.

2019 but they can’t really expand the area because the area behind is basically a cliff

When this lift is replaced with a detachable quad, I really hope they move the bottom terminal closer to the village.

why would they replace it, sure the lift itself is long but it has no lines and the actual skiable terrain is accessible from all the other lifts.
