When did doppelmayr start adding small sheaves that pinch the cable on despression towers? They seem to be in the last set of larger sheaves on the heavy side and in the front on the light side This high speed quad is quite new and does not have them. Snowbasin’s wildcat express has them.

That’s only the case for the high speed six packs and gondolas. Case in point: I’ve not seen pincher sheaves on any new Doppelmayr high speed quads such as the new High Meadow at Park City. And I don’t think pinchers started being added to lifts until 2015. (I look at Vail’s two Doppelmayr high speed six packs, as the Mountaintop Express from 2013 doesn’t have pinchers while the Avanti Express lift from 2015 does)

Yep, can confirm the new HSQ at Stratton doesn’t have them either.

They must have been added to Shirley Lake in the last two years as they were not there during my visit.

Peter – Putting you on the spot for a moment. When you compare two late model chairs Casper and Teton. From a design, operations, maintenance POV do you have a preference between LPOA or Doppelmayr?
