May have some parts from Sultan at DV but many of these parts came from elsewhere, including the chairs (which on Sultan were the later beefier version with galvanized bails and footrests) and the lifting frames (which are older than ones that Doppelmayr would have installed in a 2007 relocation).
I find it very unlikely that this lift was previously Sultan at Deer Valley. The bottom terminal of Sultan was height adjustable, whereas this one appears to be all welded. While the terminal could have been modified during relocation, the return terminal appears to be the original, non height adjustable variant that Yan manufactured in the 80s. To add to that, Sultan had a 12 assembly attached to the terminal, whereas this lift has 8. The discrepancies start to show with the top terminal as well, as this lift has a 2-sheave assembly downhill of the PTO when Sterling had 4. Not to mention that Sultan had a different style of motor as this lift.
The chair color/style with a galvanized hangar and painted bail matches some of Heavenly’s former lifts, specifically the old Canyon, Waterfall, and likely Powderbowl as well. All three were replaced in the early 2000s. Powderbowl was indeed sold to Echo Mountain, however it is unclear as to what happened to Waterfall and Canyon after removal. Gunbarrel triple was removed in 1998, which would likely have been top drive/bottom tension similar to this lift. I’m thinking the terminals of this lift originated from Gunbarrel and the chairs originated from either Canyon or Waterfall or maybe even Gunbarrel as well. The towers from the old triple were reused on the current detachable quad so that could entirely be unlikely as well. Considering the amount of Yans removed from the greater Tahoe area in the late 90s/early 2000s, the origins of this lift could be anybody’s guess. All I can say is that this lift is likely not Sultan.
