EXIF data says March 19, 2003. Does that make these the oldest pictures in the entire database?

Was this ever relocated anywhere? Seems like it would have had quite a bit of life left after the Doppelmayr upgrades so I can’t imagine they just scrapped it.

Think all the Waterfall Dopplemayr sheaves assemblies etc. went to Patsy’s

That makes sense. I wonder why they didn’t do Groove as well? Waterfall was longer than both of those combined. Maybe there weren’t quite enough tower heads on Waterfall? Patsy’s and Groove have a combined 16 towers and it doesn’t seem crazy for Waterfall to have that many given it’s length. The worldbook photo shows a combo tower 12 and those are typically somewhat in the middle of a line so I would think there’s a couple more towers than that although it’s not listed anywhere.

I think the text in the Doppelmayr brochure translated from German because Doppelmayr is based in Germany.

“fixed grip detachable” doesn’t make sense in German either, not even in the funny dialect they speak in Wolfurt :)

It’s detachable because you can remove it for NDT! Haha

All lifts are detachable if you try hard enough.

I remember riding Waterfall in the early 70’s. As was typical in those days, the unloading station was a tall, steep, wooden “cattle chute” type of arrangement that was located on the of the hill to the east of Mambo Meadows. This placed you right at the loading station of Ridge Chair, which was located on the flat area where you come down from Powderbowl, but before you ski down to Sky and Canyon. If you stop in that area now, and look uphill, the lift line cut for Ridge is still clearly visible.

In 1982, it was replaced by a triple that was a little to the west of the original lift and continued to a widened spot on lower Ridge Run that was originally called Rock Garden, and later Upper Powderbowl Run. They used to set up an Epic Mix race course on Upper Powderbowl, and now it’s sometimes configured into a terrain park. I don’t recall seeing signs on the mountain delineating this as a distinct run, because it’s really just a slight variation of Ridge Run.
