You say snow’s mountain was the first, but I see many of the other lifts are older?

Snow’s Mountain is older as a ski area. It was established in 1941 with a rope tow, while Waterville Valley was not established until 1966. After Waterville Valley opened, it was transitioned to become a reliever lift/mountain and offer night skiing for people staying in the valley, although it has since stopped being used as a ski mountain. The current chair was built to replace two T-Bars.

The “Valley Run II” lift was actually named Village, and was removed in 1997 along with the Valley Run Double. It was built by Borvig and some parts were used to build Turbulence at Pat’s Peak, NH

hey, I have a question: sometimes I see White Peaks as having 2800 PPH capacity, sometimes 3000, and the new 6 pack coming in is listed as either having 3000 or 3200 capacity? do any of you know which ones are correct?

I believe this difference in stats for the original WP was the fact that it was originally installed to go to the top of the mountain (3000pph) and then shortened which reduced it to 2800. The stats for the lift on this page are the original installation, not the shortened one. The new lift will be 3200pph according to Waterville: https://www.waterville.com/new-lift-updates

Shortening the lift wouldn’t reduce capacity as it doesn’t lengthen the chair spacing.

Whatever happened to the waterville valley master plan? I heard two years ago they were replacing the tbar and that never happened and they were going to replace the sunnyside lift as well…. and the terrain expansions aren’t happening anytime soon. Does anyone know?

Well, there was no real timetable to the plan. The last I remember hearing from WV was after putting in the six pack, that they were going to delay the t-bar a bit after the expense of the six pack. So the timeframe is probably just pushed back.

I guess so but a T-Bar wouldn’t be too expensive? If I remember they announced it for 2023 and it was on the new lifts page.

On a New England Ski Journal Basecamp podcast (11/7/24), the person on from Waterville mentioned that the permitting process for the gondola is ongoing and they hope to build it in 3-4 years…..
