This short lift services the upper part of the mountain.Unlike the lower Poma, this one is fixed grip.Drive bullwheel.Tower 1.Lower part of the lift line.T2.Carrier.Top bullwheel.Counterweight.As of 2020, this lift does not appear to be operable.Outside controls.
It’s unfortunate that this lift doesn’t run anymore as it serves the bulk of terrain at Skytop. I suspect that with mountains like Camelback nearby, people would rather stay at Skytop Lodge and ski at Camelback rather than ski at the small hill. When I skied here around 2012/2013 the Upper and Lower Pomas were running. My memory isn’t completely clear but I remember the Upper Poma being painted black and not the blue that it is painted now.
I remember my first days learning how to ski and riding this tow over and over again. Breaks my heart to see it defunct. It’s truly a unique one. I remember getting to the top and having to dodge the oncoming platters as they returned back down the hill, all while being blown around by the blustery Pocono winds. It’s those small but vivid moments you truly want to cherish. Really hope Skytop opens this part of the hill back up someday. Too many memories.
