This is a list of new lifts likely to be built in the United States and Canada during the 2026 construction season. Last updated 5/16/2026. Have an addition or correction? Comment below or email Peter@liftblog.com.
Blue = Doppelmayr
Yellow = Leitner-Poma
Green = Skytrac
Red = MND
Purple = Partek
Orange = SkyTrans
Gray = Re-installations (used lifts)
White = To be announced
ATW = Aerial Tramway
CL = Chairlift
G = Gondola
SL = Surface lift
D = Detachable
F = Fixed grip
M = Monocable
P = Pulse
J = Jigback
B = Bubble

Is Showcase at WB not Doppelmayr anymore? I thought pretty much any WB project was guaranteed Doppelmayr due to Nippon cable’s part ownership of WB and their connection with Doppelmayr?

The contract hasn’t been publicly revealed yet, so “unknown” for now. I’d bet Doppelmayr also, but there are some other types scattered around. Franz (ex-Peak), Crystal (ex-Harmony) and WVG are all Pomas. Olympic and Magic are Yan holdovers.

Apparently, it’s Skytrac. That was not on my bingo card!

Will Sun Valley’s new Lookout Express be D-Line?
LikeLike
No, it appears as it and Christmas will have UNI-G terminals with direct drive.
LikeLike
That’s a little odd, since Challenger made sense for a D-Line due to how long and high of vertical it was. Seattle Ridge is half the length as Challenger, plus it serves its own terrain area so a UNI-G with Direct-Drive was a little more appropriate. Lookout, is 1,000 ft shorter both in terms of length and vertical, but is the only quick way to get to the summit without going all the way to the base and riding the Gondola/Christmas combo. I feel that Lookout should be D-Line because like with Challenger it services its own terrain pod while acting as a funnel to the other areas since I believe D-Lines aren’t made to just feel fancy but reliable (once the 1st-season kinks get resolved)

It could be tariff related, since more of the D-Line systems come from Europe. They may be opting for something which is cheaper and can be made in the US.

Has snowbasin postponed porcupine due to this winter being subpar? If so maybe I have more time to ride it still.

I am certainly interested regarding where the Borvig parts are coming from for Holiday Mountain’s planned triple. Per their Instagram page, it sounds like they are installing a brand new Partek drive terminal and using the old towers from Turkey Trot. Could it be that the Borvig parts are the leftover tower heads and chairs from McCauley Mountain’s big chair? The photos on this site show a few unused tower heads, but not tower tubes. Since McCauley reportedly acquired the lift for a good price, I would expect that the remaining parts would be quite affordable for a small area like Holiday Mountain. Very exciting to see Holiday Mountain making a comeback, hope they keep going with all their modernization efforts!

bringing this topic back up but I think the canyons gondola should really be more incorporated into this plan. If the HVT is set up as a BRT and HOPEFULLY actually has more routes into SLC, a gondola in the canyons would end up more as a integral part of this system. A gondola will fit more people comfortably and definitely be more ADA accessible. They should also consider even maybe doing something like what UDOT is studying in BCC where there is a transit hub at the top by Brighton with lockers and amenities. If you had a locker hub and restrooms located at the transit center it would be a lot more inciting to take the bus. Combine that with a new gondola which theoretically could run year round and I think it would really be a great idea.

Does anyone know why Hatley Pointe isn’t installing the HS6 anymore?

Showcase will be the first 4-CLF in all of Whistler Blackcomb’s history isn’t that shocking? Wonder how they will portray that on the trail maps.

I was talking to some of the workers who are demolishing the old Blitzen lift, and it’s almost completely gone now. Anyways, they said it will be nearly identical to the current Avalanche chair, which is exciting. Unfortunately, they did say that they have no intention on auctioning the chairs off, like I was hoping they would. But I’m excited to see Vail put money into a smaller resort. And it seems that Vail is contracting Doppelmayr less and less for projects and LPA/Skytrac more and more. So it’s good to see that they will still buy a smaller lift from them.

Are you counting the new Argo cable car gondola here in Colorado? It’s looking to go live on May 9th.

Never mind. I see you counted it as a 2025.

The Woods Valley quad is interesting- is it actually coming from Saddleback? Which quad? I think they’re all Dopp, Dopp/CTEC, or Partek, and I didn’t hear about any replacements…
Alternatively could be a rebuild of Sandy (Hopkins) but that seems unlikely…

The former Rangeley removed in 2020 had Doppelmayr Ctec Drive and return terminals are likely what is being reused from Saddleback

what happend to sunnyside on the spreadsheet?

Heard not this year. Turning into a very light year for construction.

Do you know if it will still be built next year? After all, rememeber it was originally suposed to be a 2025 project.

It’s probably to be determined at this point given how rough of seasons many mountains have had this year. If there is not the cash income from a good ski season, that will put things off indefinitely. Which Sunnyside lift are you referring to? There are a few lifts out there named Sunnyside.

I am referencing the Sunnyside lift from Lake Louise, as it appears to have disappeared from the spreadsheet. Lake Louise, which, contrary to a lot of American resorts, had an amazing snow year, so I’m not sure why it is gone now.

@Ryan G. Might be in reference to Sunshine Express at Steamboat, as that was on the 2025 / 26 spreadsheet at one point. The lift gets very crowded at times, as there’s now direct access to the Sunshine lift from the base area via Wild Blue Gondola. I think if I remember correctly it was supposed to be upgraded from a quad to a six person chairlift, manufacturer unspecified.

Ok thanks for that clarification. Yeah it is certainly interesting then. I did send out an e-mail simply inquiring on if they are planning on moving ahead with the new lift this season or if it has been put off. I’m sure Peter may have more info but we’ll see what they say. If they respond back. They seem to have had a successful launching of another part of the mountain with a new HSQ this past season. Maybe they decided they wanted a breather and then hit the Sunny Side project from a fresh perspective?

I just stumbled upon a Facebook post from RCR and they are constructing a new 4 CLF Tamarack Express at Fernie Alpine this summer, and next year a 4-CLD Elk Express replacement and another 4-CLD Cedar Bowl Express both at Fernie. In addition at Kicking Horse they’re replacing Pioneer in 2027 with a new 4-CLD in an extended alignment that’ll provide access to the Stairway Lift. All of these are Leitner Poma builds.

For those who don’t know, Aspen Meadows Club is a real estate development that’s part of Brian Head proper. It also is a key player of Brian Head’s expansion terrain. The question is, will it be a public/private lift?
LikeLike
Thoughts on Deer Valley’s remaining lifts in the expansion area, when do we think more will get planned/scheduled?
I know the lift in the park peak saddle area to Bald would be very helpful navigational-wise.
The Big Dutch lift too for lapping that terrain
and Crown Point Express starting near Little Giant to eliminate Keetley delays in snow mornings when Sultan is on an avy delay. It happened during the Feb storm.

It’ll probably be a few years before they do anything other than the Hail Peak lift this summer. There’s a ton of other non-lift construction to get through, and crowds are a long way from needing the infill lifts. Neptune and Pioche never opened last year and it turned out Galena was barely needed other than peak days. I bet they’ll take at least a year to see how things work in an average snow year before doing anything else new. There are a lot of infill things to work on first (for example, bathrooms at Vulcan, maybe a Big Dutch midstation or Keetley warming hut, etc).
The Crown Point one is interesting though. On a high wind day in the right direction that takes out both the gondola and Sultan, which will happen reasonably often given exposure, there’s no way to get from the East Village into the rest of DV. Crown Point itself is coming up on 50 years of operation (made from parts of the original 1981 Carpenter, as was Red Cloud). Plenty of upcoming replacements whether they keep expanding or not over the next handful of years. With 7 more construction seasons before the Olympics after this year, they may want to focus on the Snow Park side for a bit and do things like the eventual Silver Lake gondola and the underground parking garage.

After Hail Peak, they are going to determine next steps based on what the new skier traffic patterns look like. The only “certainty” is the Snow Park-Silver Lake-Park Peak gondola that will be built in conjunction with the new Snow Park Village. The Big Dutch infill is probably at least a few seasons away from happening, as they need more skiers to warrant it, but I agree that the Crown Peak replacement should come sooner rather than later. I also would not be surprised to see Northside be upgraded at some point in the near future.

I also want the Northern light to Bald Lift. would decrease traffic going down Ontario. Guests could take the pinyon to Northern Light and get right to bald mt.
I also believe the other Hail Peak lift needs to happen; Hail Peak is just disconnected from the rest of the mountain.
To get out of the Hail Peak area, you need to get back to EVG or Keetley. So it’s not a third out of base option until that second lift is built. the other lift would connect you to the Joker run and then Vulcan, to revy or other places from there.

I agree a Northern Light lift would decrease skier traffic down Ontario & Homeward Bound, but I do not think that is an issue large enough to warrant its own lift. Both runs are wide enough for passing, well-pitched to avoid any particularly flat sections, and lack any blind corners that cause sightline issues and collisions. If the goal is truly to create an alternative route to the top of Bald Mountain, I would extend instead upgrade and extend Mayflower. This creates an Ontario bypass from Park Peak while also giving Vulcan & Big Dutch Peak skiers an easier route to Bald Mountain.
We will have to see if the Hail Peak shoulder lift is needed based on skier flows from Hail Peak. I am curious how well that pod will be utilized beyond parking access given its location on the edge of the resort.
