Incorrect. Dakota and Explorer are Herons, Headwaters is a Yan, and there are a handful of pre-merger CTEC lifts. Ben would know for sure, but none of them appear to have any Doppelmayr parts.
This lift will be transferred to Maverick Mountain (several hours west of Big Sky) when it is replaced this summer. Unsure of what Maverick’s plans are for it yet, could make a good race lift on their Remley trail, though.
yep! Thsy also aquired the old “Middle Basin” carpet (2014 SunKid conveyor) from Big Sky in summer 2023 & used it to replace the old WSO Stadeli handle tow on their bunny hill, which was notorious for beating the living cr@p out of kids, parents, & instructors alike!
One of the “new” chairs will eventutally replace the existing Riblet/franken-lift double, with a couple different evwntual possibilities for the second one- there is talk about putting in a second “midway” lift to eliminate the current midway station while still providing access to the midway trails like Easy Street, Rule, & Remley, or it could be set aside for the eventual expansion.
This is the only lift at Big Sky to not have any Doppelmayer/ Doppelmayer CTEC parts.

Why is this lift getting replaced? I just noticed it in Peter’s 2025 new lifts list

I’d assume age. It was built at Big Sky in 1993 and relocated from who knows where.

That’s awesome, I wonder what they will do. Didn’t they also buy the old Sublette from JH and Gents Ridge from Aspen?
