I’m somewhat intrigued by the fact that although these two lifts were identical in length and whatnot, Cannonball was a bottom drive whilst Challenge was a top-drive.

Cannonball replaced the original Tbar on this lift line that was installed when Eldora opened in 1962. The original centerpost double chairs were replaced with Yan chairs in 1993 when Challenge was installed.
Challenge, btw, ran on natural gas tapped from the pipeline that runs across the top of Eldora property, as did the original Corona lift. Was easier to build the motor room and drive terminal next to the power source, at the top.

Oh, that’s right. All those chairs were sold off to passholders by a lottery whe nthe lift was removed…but the old original chairs were sold years earlier as a vounteer ski patrol fundraiser…

We own an old center post from the original cannonball. My mother bought it in the early 2000s I was just a kid. I always assumed the center pole chair was from Corona, though I never really knew what lift it came from. I took the liberty in recording this lift before its removal. The chair had bail style heron Poma chairs.
