I first skied as a kid at Baker, on the old rope tows that were still the beginner lifts in Heather Meadows in the 80s. Chair 1 is the only chair you can see from that base area, and I remember seeing old Chair 1 and assuming that _all_ chairlifts went up terrain like the front side of Pan Dome.
The first lift maintenance project I worked on was on this lift. We were replacing all the tower assemblies and carriers because the old assemblies didn’t have cable catchers, while the old carriers wouldn’t pass by the new cable catchers.
