Chair 1 – Sandia Peak, NM

This early Stadeli fixed-grip was decommissioned circa 2017 to make way for a new summit restaurant.
In 1980, a Riblet double was added along roughly the same alignment with higher capacity.
Unloading at tower 19.
Because of the low capacity, this lift had wide towers spacing. 19 towers vs. 41 on the parallel Riblet.
Upper terminal seen from below.
Lattice style Tower 6.
Lower part of the lift line.
Drive unit.
Like most Stadelis, this lift starts inside a building.
Rare center pole chairs.
Middle section of the line.

If the only reason for removal was the fact that they needed to build that summit restaurant, then why didn’t they move the return downhill. One Riblet isn’t enough to serve the summit. There must have been another reason for removal

I ski at Sandia a lot and I don’t think that’s the reason why. I think they decided not to fix it after a big breakdown since they have another lift going the same way.
