The SkyTrac replaced Chair 7, located on the western part of the mountain. The intersection goes between Chair 1 and Chair 2, which are located on the eastern part of the mountain. You may be thinking of the Doppelmayr CTEC Quad that replaced the original Chair 1 in 2008, which does cross over Chair two much like the previous one but does not share a tower with it. They just made a really tall tower after the tower of Chair 2, likely because it would be difficult to make the towers of the Riblet Quad compatible to mount a Doppelmayr tower on top of.

So despite the original Chair 1 being removed, this lift still has a 1954 Riblet tapered tube tower. Pretty cool.

Not really. The shared tower was installed with chair 2 in ’64; before that chair 1 did not need a tower there as it was essentially neutral approaching the midstation. I could pick the rope off by hand after removing the opposing sheave there. The shared portion was engineered in to ensure that chair 1 did not sag too close to chair 2 under load. Sorry to burst the bubble.

This lift was NOT built in 2001. It was built in the 90s with the other quads because there were 1 lift built in 2000 (possibly this one), 2001 (Sipapu Lift 4), and 2002 (Cooper Spur Chairlift)

I apologize back there. It turns out that Sipapu’s Lift 4 was relocated from Alpine Valley WI

I was really confused at first because it was rebuilt in 2001 and Riblet installed only 1 lift in 2001

I assure you that it was a 2001 lift, as I was there. I built the assemblies from parts of the old lift with some new additions, helped build the terminal foundations, was on the tower install crew, and wired all the towers and the top terminal.
