Those floating bull wheels are neat! I have never seen them anywhere else besides here. Granted I never go too far past New England.

Little Red Chair and Overland Chair at Slide Mountain (now the east side of Mt. Rose) had floating bullwheels at the top like this lift.

Never seen that type of chairs before. Any other lift with them? BTW the installation year I believe is incorrect.

The chair bail and seat look sort of like Snowbasin’s Wildcat double, which is also a Poma. The Wildcat double also had safety bars for its first year, but were removed later on. Maybe this was a rare design for Poma chairlifts to have safety bars?

I don’t think those chairs are Poma because the model for Wildcat’s double chairs were the same as this lift.

This lift is an early Poma, not a Telecar.

        • Myles Svec April 19, 2021 / 6:06 pm

This was built in summer of 1959-60 and Telecars last year was 1960.

Didn’t Telecar last until Miner Denver was founded in the mid 60s?

Pretty sure Telecar lasted until Miner Denver, Poma, and C&S all left their respective partnerships. The lift in question is technically a Poma-Telecar, as it mixes parts between Poma and Carlevaro-Savio, something commonly seen on late 50s and early 60s Poma high capacity doubles

I think those might be Hopkins chairs.

    • Utah Powder Skier April 19, 2021 / 5:47 pm

No, it’s a Poma chair with unique hanger arm.
