Opened in 1984, the F triple can operate in high winds when the main summit lift can’t.View down from the summit.Last tower and the top terminal.Loading area.Lift line.Side view of the Alpha drive terminal.Lift overview.
Fixed grips usually perform better in wind than detachables, and the other summit lifts are the Kaatskill Flyer from the main base and the Zephyr Express from Hunter West. However, if the flyer is on wind hold, usually F is too.
I skied here yesterday and that was exactly what was happening. They couldn’t open KF so the trip to the summit consisted of riding B lift and then this one. They had KF running though so they wouldn’t have any freezing problems because freezing rain was falling
I grip tested this lift twice when I worked at Hunter in twenties. Now in my forties, I rode it yesterday 2/10/23. Wow what a flood of memories. Lapping upper K27 to East side drive or lower k on a busy Saturday. F-lift!
Why can this lift operate in the high winds while th other summit lift can’t and what is the “other summit lift?”
