Some social media acquaintances posted a chairlift selfie today and I spotted these odd red tabs welded onto the center pole….anyone know what they are or what they’re for?
Looks like that’s a magnet to hold up the center mounted safety bars. I think that’s taken on the Wild West double chair since that’s the only lift here that has them. They’re not super common but have started to pop up more on these center pole double chairs across the country as more resorts retroactively add safety bars to their old lifts.
Yes, that was a prototype of a magnetic comfort bar retainer that was only on one chair on the Mt Belmont chair, since removed. That lift should be 100% converted to a more typical nylock nut-retained bar like what’s already on Wild West and Rawhide by this winter.

Rawhide also has those interesting restraint bars. I think the only other one in the US is J1 at June Mountain.
