Any idea why this lift has DT grips? Vail has in the past religiously gotten the AG grips ever since the UNI-G was available. Emerald at Whistler Blackcomb and this lift are the only exceptions I believe.
I imagine it’s for consistency since the other Doppelmayr lifts built on the Canyons side in recent years use DT grips (Orange Bubble and Iron Mountain).
Actually, so do many of the Doppelmayr lifts on the Park City side as well (First Time and Crescent). Meaning the only AG grips in Park City are on King Con and the Quicksilver Interconnect.
With how congested the red pine area can get especially at the end of the day, sometimes I wish the current return station was a mid-unload/angle, with a second stage that takes riders up near the top of OBX, giving skiers another way out instead of packing everyone onto Saddleback.
Then again, that would crowd an area meant for beginners which some people wouldn’t like.

Can you get from the top of High Meadow Express over to Echo run, or Orange Bubble Express?

No, High Meadow ends quite a bit lower that the top of Echo. Saddleback will get you to there though.

I wonder why they used new towers? Maybe it’s a slightly different alignment? I’ve never skied here with the old High Meadow.

This lift really reminds me of the Kokomo Express at Copper Mountain:
