I find it ironic that, although now this place is looking to buy a used chairlift, they used to have a decommissioned Riblet double sitting in their parking lot for years that they never put up. This double was from the former military Arctic Valley Ski Bowl (closed 2003), which was located south of the current Arctic Valley. So, Hilltop bought the used Riblet, never installed it, got rid of it, and now are looking to get another used chairlift.

Some photos of the old Riblet double:

With their current chairlift being a similar model, I’m sure they used the lift from Arctic Valley Ski Bowl for parts only. From the pics you posted, it appears to be in rough condition. It never hurts to have a few spare sheaves from a lift that had very low hours. As for the chairs, people are willing to spend over $1000 for an old chair.

I’d guess Utah Powder Skier is right that they just have this lift for parts. Thanks for linking to that site though; that’s a fascinating piece of history.

You can also make out the old double chair at the Arctic Valley Ski Bowl in these pictures:

I think that’s actually Chair 1 from the modern day Arctic Valley. The lift in Hilltop’s parking lot looks older, possibly relocated from some of Alyeska’s old lifts?
