A 6 pack is needed as a replacement. This is the workhorse lift of the resort and gets jammed most of the weekend days. Is this the oldest operating Doppelmayr detachable quad in the world?
The oldest currently operating is from 1984 in Gastein AT, but this is to the extent of information available on Remontees-Mecaniques. There are a few older detachable triples as well.
You may find these chairs also on few fixed triples in Austria, for example, Hohe Salve II lift in SkiWelt. But there weren’t many in the world, I think that they were prototypes of the chairs we know today.
Lots of discussion here about people saying that Mont Sutton needs new lifts. Keep in mind that the current owners only bought the ski hill in January 2016.

The hill was for sale for nine years before current owners took over.
2016 is now 8 years ago. I don’t see how that isn’t enough time to get a major renovation underway. Obviously finances are the issue.
Keeping 40-50 year old lifts running is a money pit and and at some point they will have to remove certain lifts. I want nothing more than to see Mont Sutton succeed. They do draw major crowds on most weekends so the popularity is there. But something has to give if your customers demand better services and you offer a great mountain but the experience does not live up to the quality of other resorts. They have improved since the ownership change no doubt.
The winters and visitors are fickle, skiing is a tough and sometimes dying industry in Quebec. Mont Sutton is a gem and deserves a full redevelopment. Luckily the character of the mountain has not been affected and they can continue to market that.

This thing must be a maintenance nightmare for Mont Sutton. Wonder when they’ll replace it. A Doppelmayr 6 pack would do nicely here…

In North America, Nakiska’s Silver Express is as old as this as a tie for the oldest Doppelmayr 4-CLD in N/A.
