Along with old chairs 1 and 2, I miss this lift. Many years of night skiing here with Joe and our brother (I don’t recall skiing here during the day much, actually).
Because trail ratings at any given ski area are relative only to other runs at *that* joint. they’re not absolute across the board. A black at Cooper, for example, might be a blue at Copper.
Photos of the landslide that wiped out this chair, from the state department of transportation, are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/wsdot/3177303105/in/photostream/

I mean I get the vegetation back in 2008 but why is it still rated black can someone explain!? it’s easier than ALPINE

Do they groom the it? It doesn’t look like they do in these photos, and you wouldn’t want to send intermediate skiers down an ungroomed run

yes they groomed it. go on to see for yourself (be careful it icy)
also, it is lowkey easier than alpine

Don’t get me started on the green runs on Bald Mountain Sun Valley. 90% of them can be qualified as blue runs, some, to an extent, even black runs…

All of my home mountains have been pretty intense. Snowbird and Palisades Tahoe are some pretty steep technical mountains
