The Little Whiteface double is the longer of two parallel lifts that share towers. These towers were added in 1989.Lift overview.Towers along the lower part of the line.Little Whiteface ran alone for its first 11 years until Mountain Run was added by CTEC in 1989. That’s when towers switched out for double style ones.View down the line.Doppelmayr CTEC replaced the rest of the towers in 2011 but reused the Hall foundations.Mid-station offloading.A split tower and half tower.Upper part of the line near the gondola.Another view of the mid-station.Return bullwheel up top.Top two breakover towers.View down from the top shack.Unload ramp number two.Side view of the unique upper terminal.
Note the vintage “unload here” sign at the top unload. No doubt due to this lift’s ride time being a full two minutes longer than the gondola (despite being half it’s length), and subsequent low ridership when Cloudsplitter is open. Peter didn’t show this in the photos, but if riding up and looking towards the gondola, you’ll see it’s a rather steep drop off. Very pretty view, extraordinarily long and cold.
This lift always fascinated me as a kid due to the pre-2011 Hall towers above the midstation. There were 31 in total, so roughly twice as many as there are now (18 vs. 10), and many of them were unusually shaped. Some were conical, some had the rope at different heights on both sides, and one was shaped like an oil derrick. I can’t find any pictures of them now, although sometimes I can find an old video with a shot of the peak (usually coming off the gondola) where the breakover has 3 towers instead of the current 2.
Very disappointing that Whiteface wants to replace this lift with another double rather than upgrade it to a high-speed quad. ORDA regularly spends tons of money on debatable projects, yet they are unwilling to spend much on one that is actually worthwhile.
they probably want to make a faster double machinery and maybe operate it over the summer for the notch up to legacy lodge up or down and the new little whiteface up or down
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5d-i8QAHFs 2:37 of this video, look at the little whiteface lift and you can see that there for a short period of time was an 144th chair for one season used rarely. But, originally there were 143 chairs
How are the towers Doppelmayr CTEC if Doppelmayr CTEC changed to Doppelmayr in 2011?

IDK where Peter got this information from but it seems that this lift is on track for a replacement in 2024 with a newer lift.

Looks like a Skytrac double which will be reusing the Doppelmayr CTEC towers and the Mid-Station.
