This lift would make a lot of sense to go detachable for two reasons. A) It anchors the Blackcomb beginner area and beginner lifts are best as detachable, which Vail knows as they have upgraded lifts accordingly elsewhere in the empire. B) When the gondola goes down, which is not as frequent as it once was but still happens occasionally, this lift is the sole way out of the base and up to Base II and it becomes a nightmare.
I would agree, and also put in a detachable quad from base II to the base of catskinner express. It would allow for top to bottom laps of Blackcomb without having to take your skis off.
What’s the super tall tower at the bottom for? Is there a tensioning weight inside?
