Peter is having the summer trip to the U.P. that I can’t have this year. That said, these lifts look like they need repainting. Pine Mountain’s Riblets used to be orange, and the photos look like they have fresh brown paint on them.
I can never confirm nor deny I am still terrified of the Rocket chair at Marquette. If my memory is correct, it runs pretty fast. The ride up to the summit is lonely because most skiers use the midstation unload.
Per an archived version of Marquette Mountain’s webpage from 2006, Snowfield was fully installed by then, so the install year should be 2006 instead of 2007. I couldn’t tell if they had to fully remove the previous double chair in order to install it, so I can’t speak to the 2007 removal.
River (formally named Supreme) was installed in 1993 and has 87 chairs.
Snowfield has 77 chairs
A Constam t-bar opened with the resort in 1957 and ran up the present day Exhibition trail. It was removed sometime between 1983-1987.
Another t-bar, installed by Hall was built shortly after, I would guess early 60’s. It was removed sometime between 1989-1993 and ran up the present day Chute trail and unloaded just below the cliff the present day Snowfield lift travels over. During low snow periods foundations from the lift are still visible.
I’m fairly confident River was ready for for the 93/94 season it had a quick turnaround from Mount Hood Meadows. 1995 I believe was the year they raised tower 3 higher off the ground (too many local kids jumping off it.) Can confirm old #2 was from Breck though. There’s a picture of it in the liftie room and it had bail chairs.
Details are still TBD but this is being replaced this offseason according to Marquette’s facebook. I’m thinking it’ll be a fixed triple or quad but a HSQ would be pretty neat upgrade here
They officially announced that Rocket will be a Doppelmayr triple. The bottom terminal is supposedly moving closer to Snowfield, and the top is moving slightly to supposedly accommodate an expansion to the east.
Can confirm those details. They cut a lot of trees on skiers right of exhibition to make room for it. They are aiming for a January opening because it will not have a mid-station. They need a lot of snow as the top part of line is mostly rock and those runs are the last to open in the season. They are moving it by the lodge so you can just hop on the lift there without skating. The old Rocket towers will not come down this summer that will be a next summer project, but when they do it will clear up so much room on the Rocket and Cliffs Ridge runs.

The Snowfield triple chair runs in a slightly different alignment to the skier’s left than the previous double chair did.

#3 Chair (River) was installed 1995, not 1993
Old #2 (Snowfield) came from Breckenridge in 1981 where it had been the A1 chair installed in 1975. It was replaced by the original Quicksilver.
