This is the most important lift in the Solbright connector, since you transit through this pod to get to and from Solitude.

gonna be upgraded to a HSS and this HSQ will be relocated. Might replace another at Brighton, or another resort. That’s the rumor, anyway. Anyone heard anything similar? Crest is aged out but might have another few years left

Rumor from the Michigan side is that Boyne Mountain is getting a used HSQ from Brighton to replace 2 triple chairs in the Disciples Ridge area on the north side of the resort. With the relatively shorter length of this lift, at under 4,000 ft it seems to jive with that potential rumor.

That rumor is now not true because Disciples ridge lifts are getting replaced by an 8 pack.

I’ve heard stories of how high the old milly double used to get off the ground but have only been able to find one or two photos (chairlift.org)

    Does anyone have additional photos?

This old millecent yan center pole double had a crazy span:

I wouldn’t want to be riding that lift on a windy day.

the wildcat lift at Alta had a somewhat similar span, and its also a center pole yan, but it does not look to be as high.

I walked around Alta last week, the center pole chairs are still on

Best lift here no doubt. It’s one of the more quieter lifts. The profile of the lift is absolutely insane. I think it’s the fastest high speed quad here unless I’m mistaken?

If you’re referring to the steel loops on the inboard side of the assemblies, those are what we stand on when doing tower service. Doppelmayr calls them ‘access rails’, but Poma pioneered them and many of us call them ‘Pomapasses’ after their term for them.

How much harder are the Pomapasses to work on than the full catwalks? What’s the installation cost difference? Seems like it would be a minimal savings on installation compared to years of harder maintenance access, but I’ve never been up there!

I don’t mind them. There are much few places to set things down, but they are always at the same level relative to the assemblies where catwalks are sometimes too high. Six of one, and half a dozen of the other in my book.
