Are you sure it came from there? I found an interview of the former owner and it doesn’t mention anything about a Thiokol double there. Lift 1 for sure came from there. I’ve only heard that Lift 2 came from Parley’s Summit verbally, I have yet to find any documentation.

Here’s the interview I’m referring to:

Nordic Valley opened in 1970 with a Hall double. If that lift came from Gorgoza, then it was sold before they closed in 1971. In 1971, a second double chair was installed at Nordic. According to an interview with someone from Thiokol, this was one of their first four lifts.

Here is some information I got from an employee at Nordic Valley:

Apollo/Lift 1 was relocated from Parley’s Summit. Bridger was also relocated from there.

Lift 5 is going to be a top drive and bottom tensioning. Most of the parts have arrived for the whole lift.

I was also told that Nordic Valley has approval from the forest service to build a gondola from Ogden to the top of the ridge.

I forgot to add that they also plan to replace all of their existing chairlifts.

Yeah, but Hall and Thiokol/early CTECs look similar in terms or towers and carriers, so there is that.

Hopefully MCP invests with a new lodge and Apollo lift this summer. Sad to see Nordic like this.

Expensive repair that was needed? You’d think the much older double right next to it was in worse shape but maybe they had spent some more money fixing that one up earlier. The supply of recently removed Yans to feed the parts bin might be drying up too.

If you are referring to the short lift Bridger, they got a ton of Thiokol parts on hand given the retirement of the Thiokol lifts from Snowbasin and Powder mountain over the years, but as for the main out of base area lift Apollo, they did an overhaul on her for the 2024 season after she went down in 2023. Still, would be nice to see a newer lift in there, be it a fixed grip triple or quad. Not sure what the future plans are now for this mountain since the gondola concept from Ogden to Nordic got shut down fast and hard. But at the same time, I like the quiet non-busy atmosphere here for the Eden & Liberty folks. Still have a fading dream of someday living back in this area that my ancestors helped to settle.
