Skytrac relocated this triple chair from Acutney, VT to Pats Peak in 2017.The new lift has a loading carpet, hydraulic tensioning and other upgrades.View down the lift line.Looking down at tower 14.Tower 15.The CTEC Orion top station.Lift line overview. The first few towers in the base area.Enterprise return terminal.
The goal at Pats was to keep the lift as low to the ground as possible while still allowing ski under clearance. Due to it’s profile, it required “combination” sheave trains on the towers in the flatter areas and a duel depress setup where the vertical increases. The other option was to have a single depress over 45′ tall. That was not desirable.
Pats ordered new tower heads with the re install and I think new sheaves with sealed bearings too. Around the same time that this lift was done Skytrac did #5 at Whitefish and learned that retrofitting lifting frames and walkways onto the old CTEC slip cap style crossarm was not cost effective hence the preponderance of towerhead retrofits since.
It wasn’t, CTEC used the Hall square style base plates early on (Jan Leonard started with Hall). CTEC switched in the early 90s to the round base plates with gussets, none of the docs I saw during the relocate noted anything Hall about the lift.
Did they reuse the towers when it was at Ascutney or did skytrac build new ones

The tower tubes may be original, however the lifting frames were SkyTrac.

Why does this lift have two depression towers where the old Mueller had one? Is it in place of compression sheaves?

This is perhaps one of the most photogenic CTECs ever built.

Why did SkyTrac switch out the sheaves during the refurbishment? While at Ascutney, this machine had spoked CTEC sheaves. Parts availibility?

It appears that the Snowdance Triple at Ascutney was built with Hall tower tubes!

Those tubes seem to have been reinstalled with most of the lift!

No those are early vintage CTEC towers.

Look at the footings and the diameter.

This lift had to be evacuated today due to a deropement today. There seem to be conflicting reports as to whether it was wind related.
