Why are most of the lifts at Peek n Peak tandem lifts?

Another question might be “why ain’t they more parallel chairs out there cos they rad?” Also, tandem means one in front, one in back, à la the tandem bicycle or the T-38 trainer jet. In case it matters to anyone but us language nerds. Which it likely does not.

She did Peak’n Peak abandon the Lift 9 pod of runs? It also looks like there once were runs even further skiers right than lift 9, but before even 1978?

I work at the mountain and I believe there was a Hall double over on chair 9 up till the early 2000’s but it only serviced the one trail the lift was on. That lift was removed because the area has no lighting or snowmaking (and i believe only open weekends). Mid 2000’s there was a new plan under new ownership to open 12/14 new trails and add 5 new lifts. The trails were cut and all of the money with that owner dried up and the project was abandoned. The project made it decently far as we found the bid from Doppelmayr for 5 sprint bottom drive triples.

So I work at the mountain and I believe old chair 9 was removed in the early 2000’s. I know around 2007/8 there were plans to open that pod (all of the trails were cut around then) and the bid went out to Doppelmayr for 5 sprint bottom drive triples. Unfortunately money dried up with the new owner at the time and the project was abandoned. It could be revived in the future as the zipline course doesn’t interfere too badly with trails coming back from that pod but as it stands, even on old chair 9 there is no snowmaking or lighting (this was what killed old 9 because it was a natural snow trail and only open on weekends). Now, it would take considerable investment to open that pod because we already have water shortages during long cold snaps and lift 8 would need replaced to handle increased traffic for that pod (not to mention is the second oldest lift now and is getting hours racked up over the summer as well).
