I remember hearing somewhere that this lift was originally installed as Jay Peak’s original Pomalift on the UN trail in 1956; can anyone confirm or deny this?
A couple years after its installation at Jay Peak, I believe it was lengthened to end near where the current Jet Triple ends, then shortened back to its original length when the Jet T-Bar was installed in 1959. At some point between 1971 and 1975 the Poma was relocated to the current Poma Line trail near the summit where it operated for a few seasons before possibly being relocated to Hickory.
According to NELSAP, it is indeed from Jay, making it one of the oldest lifts around, in company with Yellow at Mt. Holiday, the Single at Mad River Glen, the T-Bar at Veterans Memorial Recreation Area, the Big Tow at Northeast Slopes, and the J-Bar at Black Mountain.

I am surprised that there aren’t more detachable platters in North America.
