Yes, the surface lifts at Mammoth are all ski-school only. They only really operate at the start of a lesson when instructors are evaluating their students.
It’s at the Canyon Lodge between the top of the Village Gondola and the base of Chair 8. They don’t show the lift on the trail map because it’s ski school only, but the run descending behind it in the first picture is Blue Jay.

There’s an abandoned tower near the mid-station, aka now McCoy station. I think this was up there.
